How much does a consumer unit replacement cost?
It depends on the number of circuits, the board type and what testing finds. Send us a photo of your current board and we’ll give you a clear written price before any work starts.
Does every old fuse box need replacing?
No. The board and wider installation are assessed first. We’ll only recommend replacement where it’s genuinely needed or you’re adding something new like an EV charger.
What is an RCBO and do I need one?
An RCBO protects a single circuit against overloads and earth faults, so a fault on one circuit doesn’t switch off the whole house. Options are explained in your quote.
Is testing and certification included?
Yes. Circuits are tested as part of the work, and you receive the electrical certificate for your records, with building control notification handled through our NICEIC registration.
How long will the power be off?
Most domestic board changes are completed in a day, with the power off only while the board is swapped and tested. We’ll confirm timings when we book.
Can you upgrade my board ready for an EV charger?
Yes. We install EV chargers too, so we can plan the board and charger together and avoid a second visit.
